The definitive U-Boat Simulator
Crush Depth is a first-person type VII U-boat simulator. Experience operating and maintaining the U-boat’s complex systems, engaging enemy shipping, celestial navigation, survival mechanics, as well as the lighter side of life on the boat.
Preserving history.
We are rebuilding the Type VII-C U-Boat to a level of fidelity that has never been seen before and giving the rest of our world the same treatment. All the vessels you will encounter in this project are one-to-one translations of the original blueprints and building regulations, built with the utmost attention to detail.
Full hands on control.
You will be able to interact with all the valves, dials, and other machinery on board, as well as all the items you bring with you. This will allow you to engage in dozens of other activities, such as playing a game of chess or skat with your crewmates, having a cup of coffee, or nicking your captain’s binoculars.
A true simulation.
Crush Depth’s simulation systems take into account things such as hydrostatic pressure, viscous resistance, electrical conductivity, propagation of sound through different mediums, salinity, temperature, Boyle’s law, and many, and many other factors.
Welcome to Lorient.
Crush Depth will offer you a variety of settings. Our main focus for the further development of this project is creating a persistent MMO-environment, set in and around the U-Boat base of Lorient, France. From there, you and your crew members will depart for the Atlantic and other parts of the world.
For all to enjoy.
Don’t worry. You won’t have to get a PhD in U-Boat warfare to enjoy Crush Depth. Apart from fully interactive tutorials that will teach you all there is to it, Crush Depth will also allow a great variety of custom options in terms of difficulty and complexity.

Frequently asked questions
How often is Crush Depth updated?
We push updates very regularly. The best way to stay informed about the latest is by connecting with us through Discord or visiting our Steam Page. On average, we push an update about once a week. Some of those are major additions and some of them are smaller things, like QOL-improvements and bug fixes.
What kind of content is planned for the next update?
At the pace we are pushing updates, it is near impossible to keep this information up to date. For news on the latest updates, the best place to check is on our Steam Page or on our Discord.
When will the project launch?
Answer coming!
Are there plans to include other submarines? Type IX? Gato?
With the level of fidelity we are aiming for, thousands - if not tens of thousands - of hours of research, modelling, coding and other development is put into recreating the Type VII. Even though it would be a bit easier to recreate another type of submarine from thereonout (as some of the background simulation can be reused), it would still take thousands of hours to recreate another submarine at the same level of fidelity. We are most definitely not saying no to it, but it is very unlikely we will do so before an initial release of this project.
Will this be single player or multiplayer?
This will both be playable in a variety of multiplayer settings, ranging from the MMO-enviroment to historical and customizable quick encounters, as well as a variety of single player settings.
This all looks way too complicated for me...
Not to worry! The project will include interactive tutorials that will teach you anything you need to know. Apart from that, we will also offer players customizable options in terms of difficulty, system complexity and the like. If even that is too much, we will also make it optional to have the AI take over whatever system you want.
